New England Fall Roadtrip Day 9: Taughannock Falls

This is the part of the trip where things start to go a little awry. Before we arrived at the beautiful falls of Taughannock Falls State Park our jeep decided it was once again going to give us trouble. So after a beautiful hike to the summit of the falls and checking into our campsite still unsure of what the noise was on our vehicle we decided to cut the trip short. Our original plan took us down to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia on the way home. However our plan now was to wake up early in the morning, find a jeep dealership and hopefully get the jeep fixed in a day or two so we could get back home safely.  The problem with this new plan was that upon our discovery all jeep dealership within a 100 mile radius along our route were all booked for the next couple of weeks and no one was willing to take us in.
Our only choice was to start the 18 hour drive home, drive straight through and hope we made it without the car breaking down. So with a hope and a prayer we took off and after a short overnight stay in Georgia we made it home.

Despite all the car troubles and the dipping weather forcing us to get hotels instead of camping, this trip was unforgettable. The fall foliage, the crisp weather and the scenery is unbeatable this time of year. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and visit, but maybe next time we would fly...

Thank you so much for following along on our fall roadtrip. To read all the blog post you can visit here. See you on the next adventure!
